Veneers

Veneers are one of the types of prosthetics that are increasingly preferred by our patients. The veneers we use are durable, aesthetic and at the same time non-invasive, as they are attached to the surface of the gums. This is an ideal solution not only for people who need replacement of missing teeth, but also for those who are not satisfied with the appearance of their smile and would like to improve it. This is a highly recommended solution also because they strengthen the tooth they are fixed on.

What is a veneer, and when do we recommend this solution to our patients?

One of the restorations is porcelain veneer. This is a thin plate that we attach to the surface of the tooth using a special glue. Ceramic and composite veneers are individual, we adapt them to the needs and requirements of our patients. When creating a veneer, our orthopaedists can almost perfectly match the color of the veneer and the color of the patient’s teeth. Moreover, this type of prosthetics, in addition to the aesthetic aspect, is useful for strengthening the tooth structure, since veneers are extremely strong. Usually they are used for prosthetics of front teeth — from central incisors to teeth number four or five.

Due to the benefits of veneers, we often recommend them to our patients. They are the perfect solution if:

• it is necessary to eliminate crown or enamel defects
• teeth have natural or acquired discoloration
• you want to close the interdental spaces
• the tooth was chipped — in case of veneer, we get a more natural and permanent effect than in the case of composite restorations
• we want to improve the appearance of our smile so that the arrangement of the teeth is correct and proportional.

What diagnostic procedures are performed before installing ceramic veneers?

The installation of dental restorations requires a preliminary diagnosis, which we carry out on site at Astra Dent. It is necessary to assess the bite, the condition of the teeth, gums and enamel. If necessary, we conduct additional, more complex examinations, such as computer tomography of the head or X-ray. Then, together with our orthopedists, we discuss the treatment plan with the patient. Sometimes, before starting the actual treatment, it is necessary to cure the teeth from caries or carry out hygienic treatment.
