Dental prevention helps to keep teeth in good condition. Oral hygiene is the most common preventive procedure. This is not only cleaning the teeth from tartar and plaque, but also strengthening them with the help of fluoride. We recommend our patients to undergo hygiene at least twice a year, especially since the procedure is painless and accompanied by a pleasant feeling of a radiant smile. In addition, both tartar and other deposits accumulate on the teeth every day, so the procedure of such thorough cleaning must be repeated — just as we take care of oral hygiene every day. Although sanitization consists of several stages: plaque removal, sandblasting, polishing and fluoridation, the entire procedure is performed during one visit.

What is oral cavity prevention, and why is it so important?

Maintaining proper oral hygiene is the first step to ensuring that your smile remains healthy and beautiful for as long as possible. However, even regular brushing, flossing, and rinsing does not remove some stains, tartar, or clean the interdental spaces. A visit to the dentist is necessary. Tartar is a deposit that causes the development of caries, as well as carious cavities in the teeth. Moreover, it can lead to serious inflammation and gum disease. Tartar, as well as other deposits that accumulate on the teeth, can cause bad breath. Thanks to hygienic cleaning, we get rid of a potential threat and at the same time we can detect possible caries at an early stage.

What is dental hygiene and how does it work?

The hygienization procedure is the process of removing bacterial deposits, tartar, and discoloration of the teeth. The procedure consists of the following stages:

1. Cleaning with ultrasound — removal of tartar using a manual, ultrasonic scaler. We usually remove tartar that has accumulated on the crown of the tooth, that is, on the visible part of the tooth. Sometimes, however, it is also necessary to remove tartar that is under the gums.
2. AirFlow сleaning — is carried out after removing tartar. It consists in removing residual deposits using compressed air, special sand and water. This procedure removes discoloration from even the largest corners and interdental spaces.
3. Fluoridation is the coating of teeth with fluorine, which strengthens enamel and protects teeth from caries.

Sanitization is sometimes performed before other procedures. It must be performed before teeth whitening and before periodontal or orthodontic treatment.
