Dental crowns

Dental crowns are a common type of prosthetics that we recommend to patients in cases of significant decay of the tooth crown or as a result of a tooth fracture. Usually, fixing the tooth with a classic “filling” is not possible in such cases. At Astra Dent we offer a wide range of crowns: porcelain, composite, metal, acrylic. 

What is a dental crown, and what are the indications for its installation?

A dental crown allows you to restore the function of a tooth after it has been completely lost or significantly damaged by caries. In addition to medical aspects, there are also aesthetic ones. Dental crowns look like natural teeth, so they are also an ideal solution for people who dream of a beautiful smile.

What types of crowns do we offer our patients at Astra Dent Warsaw?

At Astra Dent, we use dental crowns from various materials so that our patients can choose the best solution for themselves. We offer:

• Porcelain crowns — durable and aesthetically pleasing, they are very difficult to distinguish from a natural tooth due to the possibility of many colors and shades of the dentition. They are made on different types of bases: metal or ceramic.
• Composite crowns are slightly less durable than porcelain crowns, look very aesthetically pleasing and have an attractive price.
• Acrylic crowns are a temporary solution, installed while waiting for the final restoration. We install them not only for crowns, but also for implants or during any other treatment that requires protection of the tooth space.

How is the crown installation procedure performed at Astra Dent Warsaw?

Our patients make the decision to install a crown during a consultation with an orthopedic surgeon. During such a visit, we assess the condition of the teeth and plan the course of treatment. Sometimes additional examinations are performed, such as a computed tomography of the head, a pantomime, or a targeted X-ray. Some patients need to have their teeth treated first. First of all, the tooth on which the crown will be placed must be healthy. If there has been serious damage to the tooth canals or pulp necrosis, an implant must be placed before the crown is made.
