What is dental diagnostics?

High-quality dental diagnostics allows you to detect these deviations and take measures in time. Frequent visits to the dentist increase the effectiveness of preventive measures, which helps to maintain dental health.

We recommend visiting a dentist at least once every six months. Frequent examinations make it possible to identify the problem at an early stage and carry out preventive procedures.

What is the dental diagnosis during the control visit?

Dental diagnosis is usually quick and painless. The dentist conducts a thorough examination of the patient’s oral cavity and examines the teeth using a mirror and a probe. Our specialists check the condition of the teeth, gums, mucous membrane and jaw. If necessary, we can prescribe additional X-ray examinations, which will allow us to obtain detailed information about the structure of the teeth and their roots.

What X-ray types are used in dentistry?

Ar AstraDent, we use modern equipment for X-ray examinations. The most common of them are:

• Computed tomography of the teeth is a comprehensive 3D image of both jaws. A dentist can see much more detail than a panoramic image or a pantomogram. It is used in orthodontic treatment, surgical dentistry, implantology, endodontics.
• A pantomogram is an X-ray image of the entire tooth row. This picture makes it possible to diagnose diseases and the state of the teeth and periodontium. It is used primarily in orthodontics and implantology, as well as in surgical dentistry.
• A target (spot) image is an X-ray image of individual teeth. It allows you to get a very accurate picture of the structure of the tooth, detect the presence of caries, any changes or inflammation, determine the structure of the roots and canals.
• Cephalometry (panoramic x-ray) is a lateral x-ray of the skull that is taken before orthodontic treatment begins.

The method of examination is chosen by the doctor after the initial diagnosis. These methods allow our doctors to perform high-quality diagnostics and choose the optimal treatment plan for each patient.
